While you may have that attitude, and I agree, not everyone feels that way.

I quit doing the Th. evening Fiesta Island "Worlds" ride in San Diego for this very reason. It was too negative... people yelling, chopping wheels, shoving riders out of the way etc., like it was some state champ crit or something. There are plenty of weekend group rides featuring the same riders that don't seem to have that level of competitiveness.

Instead, I'm there 2-3 mornings/week, before work, doing my intervals and getting a controlled workout, knowing full well that I am better off doing that and finding a different way to work on my group/speed skills.
