Oh wow, I didn't realize it wasn't that much heavier. Not that weight is a big concern on the bike. It's been useful in carrying home some very huge shopping trips when I lived car free (I'd go shopping with a running total of weights and start prioritizing when I hit 60 lbs with an absolute stopping no matter what I still needed when I hit 80). The bike (a drop bar converted vintage mtn bike) handled a bit squirrelly under the weight, but the rack was rock solid.
