I found a little more information on this bike's steel tubeset --- folks were concerned about the thickness of it when it came out a few years back, but it is not a lot thinner than 853 Reynolds evidently
Question on Pegaso EOM16.5 steel
--- One said it "Rides like a steel bike should" - not sure what that means , but i can testify that having a 16.5 lb carbon bike does not make me one iota faster
lightweight bikes are a genuine joy to ride though, regardless of rider weight, but i think for a uber-Clyde, there's a tipping point around the 20 lb mark -- getting below that with anything but full carbon means there are likely compromises made for the sake of lightness in some of the component choices
- (i dont need carbon bars, stems or 18 spoke wheels - etc. )
Its gonna be fun I hope --- but if not, i also won an ebay bid late yesterday for a vintage Bottecchia that was quite a bit cheaper than this Pinarello (felt like i stole it really ) and is the same size as the Ciocc --- that frame shows the signs of actually having been ridden, so would be a great beater or foul weather rig ---
One or the other (or both) will hopefully work out --- now i need the fattest Open corsa's (probably 28's if im lucky) that these rigs will accept and a couple of long weekends to do some comparative testing !
