Well, I've only had the leak problems with
Shimano 615, which is only one step down from SLX, which in turn is the meeting point of Shimano quality / price
2 avid elixir 1's, which I admit were utter garbage. Never touching avid hydro brakes again (even though their BB7 is the bomb)
and Magura Gustav which was their flagship brake and is still one of the most powerful (if not still the most powerful) disc brakes ever produced for bicycles.

It's to do with the rubber seals. They harden up in the cold. When you ride in -22F hydros have a real hard time coping.
Although Shimano rubber seals have hardened up on me at 5F
