Some comments - for those that want to know...
-Cost is the power bill. We see a $30 roughly a month increase. We do not have AC or electric stove.
-You tune the altitude. Folks in CO do feel fully rested. You just need to adjust and do it slowly. I use measure SPO2 and try to keep it high 80s. Other times of the year keep it low 90s. It is just like weight training. It produces stress and the body adapts (to a degree). I change the relative altitude based on SPO2 level. Pumping it up another 4,000 feet does not help.
-You will get more benefit with certain supplements. When we started both kids were 100% food and water. B-Complex and Iron help.
-Measure Hematocrit yearly. May cost about $40 to do this.
-Found the hood works very well as positive air flow keeps the lower O2 air in the hood and the machine can go off with no safety issues.
There is indication a full tent works better.
There is a lot more indication longer periods in the tent work better.
I still think sleeping in the mountains and training low works better - but that is real costly.
The village at the top of Mt. Lemmon has the cookie cabin. You wouldn't even have to go grocery shopping!
