Heh, I saw that. I never tire of articles explaining to me that I don't need more endurance training. Maybe as a generalization, that's true. I know for a fact, though, that I do need more endurance training.

But that's fine. What's annoying is these articles come out every year to tear down the mythical Straw Base. But I don't see a lot of people building a base period around 12 hours of Z2 a week these days. Most people doing "base training" on fewer hours are mixing in a substantial amount of tempo and/or SST work. And it's a lot harder to trash that kind of program, seeing as it's actually pretty effective.
