By Tom Cuthbertson, a great book and a great guy! There is a memorial ride for him every Spring on his favorite ride. It's a seventy mile loop, 2/3 pavement and 1/3 dirt in the Los Padres National Forest in central California. Tom used to do that ride on his Hetchins... long before anyone had ever thought up the term "gravel grinder."
