Yeah granted most of the time bikes are designed, and their components chosen, for the sake of reliability far beyond what they are anticipated to endure but when you begin to partake in the weight game you begin the steep climb towards the treacherous razor's edge. I have to say that I'm somewhat more pragmatic. Although I like a challenge, such as one Harvy has undertaken "to see if it can be done", I'm not an awesome cyclist nor am I looking to gain an advantage over my perceived competition by saving weight to win a "race". I'm just "Joe Average" and if I wanted a weight advantage I'd just take a barium enema and fast for several weeks in order to get a weight advantage where it counts instead of looking for a solution outside of myself.
