That may be irrational, but it's not paranoia - there's no indication of a fear of being persecuted or taken advantage of in those situations.
Regardless....
Most people don't care, but have you ever noticed how on knit shirts that have seams on the sides, after a few washes, the seam doesn't run straight down the side, they run sort of diagonal? Same with the seams with on a lot of jeans. Have you ever seen what happens to a tailored sportcoat that has been run through a washing machine? Like I said, most people don't care, and many probably don't even notice. It's not about whether they'll be unwearable, but if you pay $500 for a set of bibs
because they fit well, you might not want them to hang on you like an old rugby shirt after a couple of washes.
