Agreed, but I don't want to get killed on account of the dog. Harming the dog should always be the last resort.
No one wants to get bitten, or killed by a dog. I just don't let the dog intimidate me. I also give the dog a lot of 'appreciation'. Because a dog is not the enemy. They are a by-product of the enemy.
