I have no pics, but my first 10 speed was purchased for $69 in 1971 from the J.C. Penny's store in downtown Orange, Texas. Can you imagine going to Penny's today and asking "do you have any road bikes in stock?" I remember the exciting sensation of the first ride and how sporty it felt compared to my high school ride, a Schwinn "mid weight". I put lots of miles on it in Beaumont, Corpus Christi and Austin before finally buying a 25 pound 1977 Viscount in my neighborhood bike shop in Austin. I remember the first ride on that bike and realizing the Penny's bike was a POS boat anchor. Soon after a neighbor gave me an unsolicited $20 offer on the old bike. After considering for about 3 nanoseconds I accepted this offer. She loved the bike, said it was a lot faster than her previous bike.
