I use a Thermarest also, I think it's well worth the extra weight and expense. They're easy to wash out and clean at the end of a trip also.

I have using Thermarest pillows since 3-1998 started with large pillow and 8/2013 I gone to the
med pillow with Nemo fillo pillow (Air) and 7/2015 now using Thermarest Small pillow with Nemo fillo pillow since I am a side sleeper I use two pillows and both go in my ortlieb rack pack large bag
