I love my Peugeot, as well, and it gets more use than each of my other (and more expensive or collectible) bikes does, because it is my go-to workhorse for shopping, errands, commuting, going to the YMCA, etc. These bikes have much better ride characteristics than their original price and collector value would indicate.

When I lived in west Los Angeles my next-door neighbors were collectors of 1950s through 1960s American cars, and they always needed to have a beater or two to preserve the good (or merely rare) stuff.
