I was choosing locations based upon being next to the Mediterranean (It will be January, I want nice weather) and being easily accessible via high speed rail from Madrid.

We are not tied to either place but we are only going to be there for a long week (10 days at a max with a day chopped off on each end for traveling). So I don't intend to go racing or find any local group rides that turn into hammerfests where getting dropped means I get lost on unfamiliar roads. I just want to be able to do 4 hours in nice enough weather, on nice enough roads. I have a little over a week, I just want to enjoy the country side but get my training in at the same time.

The cycling news article was about Denia, which is just south from Valencia. I would consider that spot aswell but it would require taking high-speed rail and then a bus with two bikes. Not really interested in getting that extra layer of logistics covered just so I can ride in the same area as pros if other areas are just as good to ride but easier to get to.

@UmneyDurak Goddamnit, more people pushing me about my relationship status as if all the neighbors at my parent's Christmas party weren't enough!
I haven't looked into travel to and from but Calp is a very popular training destination in spain with good weather in the january / february period.
