Thanks for the input so far!

Sorry I wasn't clear, I did end up riding the 200k I wanted but to clarify none of my rides were timed or organized. I'd plan my routes around climbing a specific large hill within about 50-60 miles from my apartment, picking a different one each time. Here's an example, I rode about 60 miles to Mt. Alto, rode up the mountain and then came home.

Part of the reason I'm asking is that next year I'd like to spend more time riding on new roads further afield and this requires either riding further overall or driving to a start point. I'd really prefer not to drive so this leaves me riding further for each given ride and I'm still thinking I may shift the 2-3 hours I'd ride during the week over to the weekend.

This is all just fall/winter navel-gazing but I've got to do something while I wait for my winter kit to post from the UK.

I may only have a 2 hour window of decent weather
With fenders and the right clothing, that window gets a lot bigger.
