You'll have to specify what you mean by match the performance.
The laws of physics can't be violated. The output of a bicycle tire pump is determined by the bore and stroke swept by the piston and the push power provided by the user.
How many on-the-road flats do you get? If it's not very many, and you have the right attitude, a mini pump might serve you well because you don't need to pump a gazillion strokes very often. If you get a lot of flats or are easily aggravated, you'll probably be better served by a larger pump. My current favorite to use is the Road Morph, but they're ugly.
CO2 always comes up in these threads. It's by far the fastest and easiest but it's the least tolerant of any mistakes in your flat fixing procedure.
