I started my bike touring career in Western Washington. Lots of rain. Up there you learn how to deal with it, or stay home on the couch.
I find I can tour in all day rain, every day, for four days at a stretch before I really need mechanical heat to dry out my sleeping insulation. Unless I make a newbie mistake in site selection or pitching the tent, or wear my only dry clothes on a climb in the rain. And it took more years than I care to admit before I stopped making lots of newbie mistakes. (That was before the internet gave us all this conflicting information that's impossible to sort through.)
