Good tip. The oil method is mainly for semi-stuck u-locks that are annoying to unlock, not those that are seized and impossible to open. Alcohol sounds good for a frozen u-lock. WD40 may be an option for a seized lock, just to loosen things up. After that, a thicker oil is good for maintenance.
