Which shifters are those? I thought all the Brifters used cables that route along the bars. Do you mean the non-aero pre-brifter brake levers??

I wish there was a solution that didn't limit protected hand positions to just one.
In my short use of them, I've found that holding the bars just behind the mitts gives decent protection too, so you can at least get a couple positions.
