I know your state and national forests have good maps that show which roads are paved or not. Spent some time in DuPont over the summer and that place is great for riding gravel. Other than that I'd say look for rural roads and google street view them to see what the surface is like. Are there no local groups or forums centered around gravel riding? Maybe check the ride calendar on GravelCyclist.com to see if there's anything in your area.
