Yeah, this design stuff is not as easy as it looks, you don't know how many times I have heard, "it's just a piece of plastic," or 'why aren't you giving it away' (posting completed designs on Thingiverse or YouMagine, etc).
I used to work in graphic design, so I know this pain (as do friends of mine who are photographers, artists and so on). People just don't see the value when the skill or knowledge is hidden. No one questions the bill for the guy who digs a hole in your yard to fix a pipe (hours x rate), but they can't wrap their head around the hours taken to design their poster, logo, or business card. And no, there is no 'magic' button on my keyboard...
