I am still using a older Garmin Edge 705 or a newer 22 hour battery life Lezyne Super GPS and an am still manually uploading to Strava. I do use my smart phone with Instagram linked to Strava for photos i might want to include with my strava rides.
I have at times turned off the recordings and lost part of the ride, or if I turn the system on later, I will get the same effect a straight line from turning off location to starting again location. I tend to edit the ride, cropping the route where I stopped recording the ride, and eliminate the straight line section to the end of the ride.
I have a dozen segments I know where to start, and where they end that I use as a climbing improvement tool. As I hate to climb, but keep trying to improve. I have several segments that are quite important to me to include or avoid depending upon my feelings in the early part of my weekly rides.
Tis funny looking back the last 5 years, I make more recording errors after my climb segments than in other locations/rides.
