Clearing Stuff Up

Thanks for your help everyone. I didn't want to go all TMI when I sat down to write about this, but I think a few more details will help.

First, this fellow's bike shop isn't near where I live. My job requires travel to surrounding states several times a year, sometimes further. I found this shop because I occasionally have some spare time when I travel, and I like to check out the bike stores.

I was doing this last year when I noticed that the proprietor of a nearby bike shop had a familiar name. I noticed it while I was checking out their web page. So I called the store and asked to speak to him. When he answered, I asked if he happened to be the fellow I knew. I mentioned the name of a couple of mutual friends.

At that point he said, hey I remember you. You... You're the guy who got my car trashed! CLICK.
After that, silence.

I hadn't thought much about that event in a few decades. It certainly came back after that call. So I hope this dispells the notion of years of guilt and anguish. It was more like a bucket of cold water to the face.

I think that the simplest thing I could have done back then was man up and apologize. It would have been a good start anyway. So maybe the right thing to do at this point would be to take care of that much, and offer to help if he needs any.

Much appreciated,

Scott
