The nicer frames actually use SPX as can be seen (somewhat fuzzy) in several of these frames they had. The 2nd letter is defintely not an "L", a "P" would certainly make more sense in the images.
Nothing wrong with SPX; it's a slightly thicker wall version of SLX. My guess is that it was used on the top model frames in larger sizes. The smaller ones were probably SLX (guess).
