Hmm, your Trek doesn't have a 52T chainring. 48T should be the largest. And even though you "only use" that chainring your picture shows the bike in a small/small combination! Something is not right here.
My theories, in order of likelihood:
1) Different gearing is confounding it.
2) It's in your head.
3) The fit of the BMC is
way off causing your legs not to work well on it.
4) Something is wrong with the bottom bracket.
