I often carry a small homemade "crooked knife". It looks a lot like a grapefruit knife but without the serrated edge. I can carve a lot of things with it including wooden spons and small bowls. Lots of fun if sitting in camp on a really rainy day.
Sometimes i forgo the knife/spoon combo and just carve chopsticks on tour.
