From what little I know of DA (I'm a Campy guy ) I'd expect 8 speed as well. The biggest cog is big, I mean 30T or so big. Maybe that's a factor? Seller told me it was for climbing in California where he moved to FL from. I don't know. Don't know why a frame he assumedly had built for himself has such a long stem and seat setback either. Trying to accommodate changes in riding style over time? He was an older guy.

Doesn't matter a whole lot in the long run, really.
