Bicycle trainer that mimicks terrain changes?

Years ago I read that some bicycle trainers had programs that increases or decreased the resistance of the trainer automatically whilst one rode the trainer whilst watching a Video tape or DVD. The tape or DVD was somehow coupled to the trainer so that as the video showed the start of a hill the resistance on the trainer got greater too.

Can someone tell me the name(s) of such a trianer if they actually exist now?

My BinL would like to get one so he doesn't get too bored too soon riding his indoor trainer for health reasons.

There were also videos or DVDs of rides through some areas such as Grand Teuton and Yellostone. Do these still exsist even if they're not connected to a trainer?

Thanks and cheers
