Decades ago I spent an entire year in Wisconsin with only a bike and motorcycle as transportation. Fun? No. Interesting and challenging? Yes. If I had enough clothes on to stay warm pedaling in single digit temperatures I had to get out of them pretty fast to keep from overheating when I went inside at the end of a ride. That made going to the grocery store a bit difficult. If you have enough layers on to keep warm it is going to constrict movement as well. It is also hard to see if you have to protect your face from the cold as well. The coldest windchill I ever rode in was -68F and it was probably near zero in actual temperature. It was a short ride. Never forgot that one and never tried (or would try) to repeat it. Luckily where I now live it only occasionally goes below freezing even at night.
