Long run, Campy is in serious trouble. Their US pricing is bonkers, they have zero OEM distribution, and they don't have any mountain bikes expertise to draw on. I suspect Campy is going to head the way of SunTour in a few years. I'm not sure they have enough margins to fund the R&D to remain competitive with Shimano/SRAM, especially since they need to develop disc hardware, and lack any prior experience. The longer term problem is that its basically impossible (in the US) to experience the "superior ergonomics" of Campy. I have literally NEVER seen Campy on a bike in a local shop (and I live in a major cycling area), which means its IMPOSSIBLE for me to demo. Campy really needs a OEM distribution with a Athena/Veloce level group at a similar price point to 105, to get newer cyclists into their hardware. Many people will pay a premium for quality, but to many consumers, its more like paying a premium solely for a name-plate since they can't try it.
Their tiered model is somewhat confused as well. If only because they insist that SR/Record > Dura-Ace, but if you look at race bikes, they're SR/DA/Red and people assume those are basically equivalent.
