OK, so to sum up:
bike shorts should be snug everywhere - no loose bits!
Chamois should cover everything that touches the saddle (wide part in back)
use chamois cream on rides of 2+ hours if you are bothered.
wash shorts after every ride. if you don't have enough then buy more.
shower immediately after getting off your bike, keep your delicate bits clean and delicate.
