Update:

Let me preface this whole thing by saying I still plan to get BB tools and service the BB including Loctite......

Last two days weather was warmer than usual and I hit the roads before work. In my continuing effort to eliminate the noise I cleaned, lubed, fiber gripped my seat/post and reset my headset (which has a tendency to develop its own tick/click) before hitting the road. Noise was still there during the rides. Oh well. Today during a morning trainer session I was yet again distracted by said noise. In fact, the noise has pretty much disrupted my last half dozen trainer rides since I slow down to try to hear or feel where it is coming from. Today I thought the noise sounded up high on the bike so I reached down while pedaling away and wiggled the rear brake cable. Silence! After 15 minutes it came back ever so slightly. Wiggle - Silence! Problem may be solved. This evening I plan to replace cables, clean the housings and sockets, etc and expect that should be then end of it for a while. Interestingly, I did this for both derailleur cables about a week ago thinking they could be the issue with no luck.

Yet again another episode of the noise is very likely not what you think it is....

If I am wrong on this - I still plan to work over the BB.
