Before spending any money, try my earlier suggestion of using a small swatch of soft fabric, like the synthetic chamois they sell as car wash cloths to bridge the offending area.
You don't have to sew it in, just slide it into place where you need it and it'll stay put well enough on it's own, or you can reposition it from time to time as you arrange your parts.
My first thought was that it would it just create another irritating seam, but your right, it's worth a try. A lot cheaper than buying shorts or bibs only to find out they are not solving the issue.
