I found that on long tours my left knee would start to feel twinges after 2-3 weeks, especially riding through large cities or doing a lot of uphill starts. What I finally realized is that I always unclip my right foot for normal stops. When I start rolling again it is my left leg that does all the work. Once I realized this, I tried to make a conscience effort to unclip the left foot once in awhile.
