Actually it may be a good idea to do various experiments with an old, no-longer-used helmet.

High-visibility can be achieved by clothing (more than helmets, since helmets are smaller and not at eye level). Since according to some studies, drivers tend to be more aggressive toward cyclistis wearing helmets, it may help to wear a black or unnoticeable-colored helmet.

What's a "multi-sports" helmet? Would that be like the one Jack Nicholson wore in "Easy Rider"?
I'm not very sure, either, but the pictures may give some idea:

Road helmets
Mountain bike helmets
Commuter helmets
Multi-sport helmets (What are Multi-Purpose Helmets)

Would it be right to suppose, in general, the protection of the helmets from weakest to strongest could be roughly ranked in this order: Road < Commuter < Mountain < Multi-sports < Snow sports ?
