Freedom Deluxe 12 Speed

A few months ago I ran across an ad on CL for a bike I have never heard of before. It was a 25in. frame, Concord Freedom Deluxe 12 Speed and made in Japan. It was listed for 60.00 but since I didn't need another bike I just gave it a casual glance and moved on. After several days it was still listed so for giggles I did a Google looking for info. That led me to a very limited group of postings here. One or two said low end bike boom and someone else said it was decent. Still I didn't bother with it. A week later after a particularly bad week at work I felt the need to spend some of my paycheck I just bled out for. So I see it is still listed so I figure what the heck. If anything I will have a set of rims and parts for one of my World Sports, I need to rebuild. So I contact the seller and it is still available so I go to look at it. The young man selling the bike told me he bought it and rode it a few times but preferred his MTB (which was hanging in the Garage). After looking at it top and bottom I gave the kid his 60.00, which I thought was more than a fair price. It sat in my basement until yesterday. I put on new tires as the ones on it looked iffy to me. The seat on it was mint but I replaced it with a new seat. The same one I use on all my bikes. I was gonna put on new bartape but the foam grips on it look and feel new so right now I am leaving them alone. I did the necessary adjustments to the stem, bars, and seat height. I rode it for the first time today and all I have to say is Wow! The bike was very quick and responsive. The ride was quiet and smooth as silk! Beats my much beloved World Sports, which now feel sluggish to me. Anyway I rode 30 miles and could have rode it all day but was under a Spousal time restriction :-)
I noticed it has the same rear derailluer as my Schwinn Voyaguer 11.8 (also made in Japan). Anyway I am glad I took the chance as it seems to be 60.00 well spent. Even with new tires and a seat I am at 100.00 which to me is good value for a bike that I will enjoy and NOT be parting out. LOL!

So if you can find one of these at a nice price I think you would be pleasantly surprised. I was!!!
