Please enlighten me though. Who in this thread was constructively working to advocate cyclists rights again?
Which posters currently sit on committees dedicated to educating motorists about cycling and cyclists rights?

When there are examples of government officials, who in their official capacity are misbehaving to the detriment of cyclists, a little social media publicity can be constructive. Police departments just LOVE to see their "one bad apple" being a jerk all over the internet. If he's the "one bad apple" of an otherwise quality organization, and a bit of publicity helps them identify that and take corrective action, I'm in favor.
As it happens I am a member of a local cycling advocacy group, and we've done a lot of work to make our city bike friendly. I've met frequently with a sympathetic local councilman. I've donated money to the cause through several venues. My guess is that on this forum I am not alone.
