And as a somewhat funny thought about so-called "contact sports" I once destroyed my left thumb in a collision during a Masters swim practice, when my hand bounced off the head of a swimmer turning on the wall in front of me. In hand therapy, they asked how I injured myself, they all laughed in surprise when I said "swimming". It's not supposed to be a contact sport yet required surgery and 11 weeks in a cast.
