Bikes: 1959 Capo Modell Campagnolo; 1960 Capo Sieger (2); 1962 Carlton Franco Suisse; 1970 Peugeot UO-8; 1982 Bianchi Campione d'Italia; 1988 Schwinn Project KOM-10;

Mudguards are the next planned upgrade for my UO-8, which is my general purpose beater/commuter/shopper. (Not pictured -- the yellow Rudy Project panniers I now hang on the Pletscher rack.) Since this picture was taken I have switched to a 700C front wheel, and I would be inclined to change the rear, as well. I have a Mafac Racer front and a Weinmann Vainqueur 999 rear, and with KoolStop pads, Weinmann handles, and aluminum rims, braking is certainly satisfactory.

I don't have a brake bridge clearance problem, but since my fork rake is less than that of a stock UO-8, I do have toe-to-tire contact with a 27 x 1/14" front tire, even with the 165mm cranks I installed to try to mitigate this issue. The frame is short for me (my ideal size -- and that of my Bianchi and both Capos -- is 55cm C-T), but the long top tube compensates for this.
