I explained what the problem was. I told him there is no infection so he could just leave it alone. But if he wants the ingrown nail actually treated that involves cutting the base of the nail and killing the edge of the matrix with phenol. I know what's involved but am not trained to do this so I told him he could see a podiatrist if it bothers him enough to get that procedure done.
