Thanks for posting that, it was very insightful. The only indexed triple that I have is a Shimano system from the early 90s on my Bridgestone MB-6. All parts are original to the bike.

My other triples are friction shifters. In addition to the two pictured, I have another bike with a triple that uses bar ends front and rear. In all three cases I am using a front derailleur for a double on those triples.
