I'm enjoying riding a nice stiff steel frame. Feels great because it transfers power nicely and removes most of the road noise. But it got me thinking. If you ride on very very smooth trail why wouldn't you get the stiffest frame possible?

My understanding is that the only detraction from stiff frames is that they can be uncomfortable due to road noise but that would be non-existent on a very smooth trail.
