Regular NSAIDs until the pain goes completely away is the way to go. Too many people only take them when it hurts. What NSAIDs do is reduce inflammation. When you get the inflammation to go away, the pain goes with it. Besides NSAIDs to get the inflammation to go away, stretching is IME the way to make it stay away. The stretches I've been doing for many years are here:

Hold each stretch for 20 seconds.

IME rolling reduces the symptoms somewhat, but doesn't fix the cause.

I've never had it in my hips, but I get it in my knee bursa if I don't stretch.

So if it's bursitis, what's the name of the bursa that's involved?
