Bikes: 1978 Trek TX700; 1978/79 Trek 736; 1984 Specialized Stumpjumper Sport; 1984 Schwinn Voyageur SP; 1985 Trek 620; 1985 Trek 720; 1986 Trek 400 Elance; 1987 Schwinn High Sierra; 1990 Miyata 1000LT

Most of my stuff is 'tour-y' to begin with, so they came with triples.

If you've got a 'race-y' Italian bike the Ofmega/Avocet triple is pretty cool. I put one on my Trek 400 Elance.

You'll probably need to get a different derailleur- I'm using a Suntour XC Pro on this bike.

Although I'm not really a purist- I've found drops to be comfortable- moreso than any other bars I've used. I'm pretty much NEVER in the drops- spend most of my time on the corners, but having the hoods, ramps, corners and tops available to me- and then there's whatever drop position there is...

As much as flat bars make it so much easier for shifting and braking, the lack of hand positions is a deal breaker to me.

Best wishes.
