The Phil square taper BB I installed in November acts like it's over tightened/indexed if I let it sit overnight. Once I turn the cranks by hand a couple times it frees up and doesn't makes any noise when I spin it, but it doesn't spin freely like it should. Is it relatively easy to over-tourque the cups? I used a torque wrench and tightened them to the specified 40 N-m/30 ft-lb. I haven't removed it yet to assess the damage Any tips are appreciated.
The grease inside those bearings can be a little sticky at first (especially when it's cold outside) but I'm thinking your cups are a little too tight. Experiment a little. As long as there's no side-to-side play, the cups are tight enough.
