Well, for the record in case you are referencing my early post. The derailleur body itself broke while just tolling along. It was not shifted into the spokes, it just wound up there, LOL! Not running at speed and not shifting when it happened. I bet metal frames would have been dinged or dented but not broken clean through and able to finish the ride probably. Or at least get me home.

Or maybe not. As it was, one spoke was dinged. Maybe if the frame hadn't broken it would have taken out a bunch of spokes instead and I would have still been stranded.

All I do know is , "steel is real".
