Weight weenies during the SR era would have used OMAS replacement Ti center bolts. They were the most known, but there were other companies that made these sorts of upgrade parts. No other sidepull brakes really stayed centered like campy, so people that were concerned with weight drilled and modded campy brakes. IIRC Universal 68 were a touch lighter though, and worked well enough.
Anybody who wanted weight weenie brakes during this era used CLB Professionals. They even offered lightweight cable housing with aluminum versus steel sleeve.
