I can vouch for the Clermont and Live Oak areas. You might consider Ocala/Ocala National Forest area between those as a central base area. The National Forest has inexpensive camping ,rolling hills for roadbiking and mtn. biking trails and there are apparently other more challenging mtn. biking trails in the area that others Fl. mtn bikers can fill you in on (Santos in Bellview).I went through that area on a tour over Thanksgiving and it was beautiful and temps were 70's daytime and 50's down to 30's once at night though with the heat wave in So Fl now I doubt it is that cool in NorthCentral Fl. now. Also Gainesville(Univ. of Fl.) and Daytona are nearby if you get the urge for some revelling lol.
