A 22 pound bike is considered light in my book, especially when it comes with gears and for only $400. Nice of you to gift to a friend, Inpd. I've also given several bikes to good homes.

I weighed his bike and it was a whopping 25.5 pounds and the DLX was 22.2 pounds. Same size, same groupset (Claris) so I'm guessing the Dawes DLX Lightening has a lighter frame/fork. The only other difference is that the Mirage Pro has the Claris crankset (with octolink BB) and the Dawes a regular square taper BB and FSA cranks.
