Unfortunately the bike is at least two sizes too big for you, maybe more. That makes it a bad buy, no matter what it is and no matter what you paid. Take it back if you can.
Either that or flip it on eBay/CL and try to make some money on it. Or sell it to your friend for what you paid for it.
